Waterfowl Migration

Join PLC Executive Director Eric Masterson for a trip along the Merrimack in search of spring waterfowl. Late March is THE season for waterfowl in New Hampshire, as they stop off on our rivers, lakes, and cornfields to rest and refuel en route to northern breeding grounds. We will travel from New Boston to Manchester and south on Route 3A through Litchfield. With luck we might see up to fifteen species of geese and duck. Dress warmly, bring binoculars and boots for muddy walking. Carpool from PLC Office in New Boston.

Exploring Vernal Pools

Children are not only welcome – they’re encouraged! Please join us as we explore the mysteries and wonder of nature’s nurseries - vernal pools.

Dress warmly, but prepared to get wet! Wear boots and bring nets, buckets and magnifying glasses as they are important tools for our discovery efforts. We will have field guides available to borrow or purchase ($7). Every child must bring, and remember to keep track of, a supervising adult! Our exact destination will be determined as we get closer – vernal pools being highly weather dependant, directions will be sent out to all who pre-register. In order to preserve the integrity of the vernal pools, please no dogs.
